Abstract
In this study, HBsAg was detected among 47 nurses in hemedialysis units, 338 patients receiving hemodialysis in 9 hemodialysis units, 352 women of health examinee and blood donors (control group A) and 180 general nurses in C.N. - U.H. (control group B).
The results were as follows:
1. Forty-seven nurses in 9 hemodialysis units were found to have 2.1 HBsAg-positivity, which had no significant difference from those of control groups (A and B).
2. On the contrary the incidence of HBsAg-positivity in patients receiving hemodialysis was 14.8%, which exceeded those of control groups (A and B) and nurses in hemodialysis units, but no sexual difference (respectively P<0.005, P<0.005, P<0.025).
3. Those with HBsAg-positive after hemodialysis who had been HbsAg negative before hemodialysis were 15 cases among 162 patients, and the sero-conversion rate was 9.3%.
